Jacob S. Witt, MD
Dr. Jacob Witt, radiation oncologist, joined Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois during July 2021. He primarily sees patients at the Cancer Care Center of O’Fallon and also provides occasional radiation oncology services in Decatur, Effingham and Mattoon.
Dr. Witt, a Saint Louis native, received his Doctor of Medicine from Washington University School of Medicine in 2016. He completed his internship at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dr. Witt then completed his radiation oncology residency and served as Chief Resident in Radiation Oncology at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison, Wisconsin before returning home to the Saint Louis area.
A strong advocate for cancer research, Dr. Witt has served as Co-Principal Investigator for clinical trials. He has also authored and published many peer-reviewed publications for which he has received a number of awards, including the ASTRO Junior Investigator Award for Basic/Translational Science, Wisconsin Association of Hematology Oncology Outstanding Abstract Top Winner, and an American Radium Society Travel Grant. His scientific work has been featured in Lancet Oncology, Clinical Cancer Research, and The International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, and Physics.
Dr. Witt has specialized skills in radiotherapy techniques, including 3D conformal radiation therapy, IMRT/VMAT, SRS/SBRT, Brachytherapy, and Radiopharmaceuticals. He is board eligible and holds membership in the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO), Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) and Society for Neuro-Oncology (SNO). In his free time, he enjoys playing and listening to music, practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and spending time with his family.
