CCSI Research Programs & Affiliations

CCSI participates in cancer research studies and clinical trials to improve cancer treatment, cancer recovery and cancer prevention.  CCSI is nationally recognized for its important work with cancer research studies and clinical trials and has received numerous honors from the National Cancer Institute and the American Society of Clinical Oncology for its outstanding cancer research program.

CCSI is affiliated with National Cancer Institute (NCI) supported research groups and also works closely with the Decatur Memorial Hospital Cancer Care Institute Comprehensive Cancer Program to offer opportunities for patients to participate in research studies and clinical trials that provide state-of-the-art care and new treatments not yet available to patients at many other cancer centers.  CCSI also works closely with pharmaceutical industry sponsors to provide additional access for patients to developing new cancer treatments.

CCSI’s cancer research program is an important component of the American College of Surgeons cancer program accreditation for area hospitals, including Decatur Memorial Hospital, HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital (Effingham) and SSM St. Mary’s Hospital – Centralia.
