Dr. Gibran H. Mahmud, medical oncologist/hematologist, joined Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois in 2017. Dr. Mahmud primarily sees patients at the CCSI Centralia Oncology Clinic and also sees patients weekly at Salem Township Hospital, Fairfield Memorial Hospital and Cancer Care Center of O’Fallon.
Dr. Mahmud received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Ross University School of Medicine, Portsmouth, Commonwealth of Dominica. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at MetroHealth Medical Center at Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Mahmud went on to complete a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at Saint Louis University.
Dr. Mahmud is board certified in Medical Oncology, Hematology and Internal Medicine. In addition, he holds membership in the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, and Illinois State Medical Society.
Before joining CCSI, Dr. Mahmud was in private practice in St. Louis, Missouri and Granite City, IL. He has participated in research programs and published articles regarding Myelodysplastic Syndromes, Cancer Genetics and multiple myeloma.
