Mark A. Walshauser, MD, FACP, FASCO Named Advocacy Champion by the Association for Clinical Oncology
O’Fallon, IL – Mark A. Walshauser, MD, FACP, FASCO was named an Advocacy Champion by the Association for Clinical Oncology (ASCO) during the Association’s 2026 Advocacy Summit in April. Advocacy Champions are ASCO volunteers who have made meaningful contributions to ASCO’s advocacy activities throughout the year to ensure that every patient with cancer has access to high-quality, high-value cancer care, no matter who they are or where they live. Advocates speak with federal lawmakers and agencies, send personalized letters to Members of Congress through ASCO’s ACT Network, engage with state lawmakers on policy priorities at the state-level, and host site visits for lawmakers in their home states and districts.
“Being an ASCO Advocacy Champion requires an extra level of commitment to quality cancer care and research,” said Ashley L. Sumrall, MD, FACP, chair of ASCO’s Government Relations Committee. “Not only do they want the best for their patients, but they are working with policymakers to make sure all people with cancer have access to the same resources in hopes of a cure.”
Mark A. Walshauser, MD, FACP, FASCO is a Medical Oncologist with Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois.
