Welcome Misty D. Wernsman, MSN, FNP-BC
Centralia, IL – Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois (CCSI) is pleased to announce the addition of Misty D. Wernsman, Nurse Practitioner, to its practice in May 2026. She primarily sees patients at Centralia Oncology Clinic and also provides coverage as needed for CCSI satellite clinics.
Wernsman has prior nurse practitioner experience in geriatric and chronic care as well as extensive nursing experience with post-surgical, developmentally disabled adults and home health care. She joins CCSI Centralia physicians Dr. Gibran Mahmud, Dr. Bassam Maalouf and Dr. Bachir Farah in providing care to hematology/oncology patients in Centralia and surrounding areas.
Wernsman, from Centralia, IL, obtained her Associate of Arts Degree from Kaskaskia College in Centralia, IL in 1987. She obtained her Diploma in Nursing from St. John’s Hospital School of Nursing in Springfield, IL in 1990. She then obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from McKendree University in Lebanon, IL in 2012. She went on to earn a Master of Science in Nursing from Maryville University in St. Louis, MO. in 2016.
As a Nurse Practitioner, Wernsman collaborates with the medical oncologist and conducts comprehensive patient assessments, assists with patient care plans, provides health exams, orders diagnostic tests (such as x-rays, CT/PET scans, and laboratory tests), and coordinates with other members of the patient’s health care team.
Wernsman is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She is also a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
