Welcome Dr. Casey Duncan!
Effingham, IL – Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois (CCSI) is pleased to announce the addition of Casey E. Duncan, M.D., radiation oncologist, to its medical practice. Dr. Duncan joined Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois at Crossroads Cancer Center in Effingham, IL, during June 2015.

Dr. Duncan received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in Bethesda, Maryland, in 1997. He completed a residency in Radiation Oncology with University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in 2009. Prior to that he completed both a residency in Family Medicine at the University of California – Davis Consortium at Travis Air Force Base in California in 2000 as well as the Northern California Faculty Development Fellowship through the University of California in San Francisco in 2004.
Dr. Duncan retired from the United States Air Force in July 2015 after 32 years of service. He most recently served as Deputy Chief of Radiation Oncology Services for the San Antonio Military Medical Center. His prior service also included serving as Program Director for the David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base and Chief of Radiation Oncology services at Wilford Hall Medical Center and San Antonio Military Medical Center. His numerous honors and awards include the National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service, Award for Academic Excellence (Association of Military Surgeons of the United States USUHS) and the Above & Beyond Award for Exceptional Medical Service.
“While I was deployed to Kuwait with the Air Force, my father was diagnosed with cancer. His radiation treatments made a remarkable difference and led me to specialize in radiation oncology so I could spend time with my patients to help them understand their cancer, the treatments for it, and to work with them through treatment. I joined Cancer Care Specialists to serve patients and their families in Effingham and surrounding communities. Dr. Duncan is board certified by the American Board of Radiology – Radiation Oncology. In addition to his exemplary military career, Dr. Duncan has extensive teaching experience, participates in cooperative research groups and has served as Institutional Co-Principal Investigator for several research protocols and has a special interest in head and neck cancer. He also enjoys running, water-skiing and cooking. Dr. Duncan holds membership in the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, American Brachytherapy Society, American Radium Society, American Society of Clinical Oncology, and Radiologic Society of North America.
