Welcome Alexis J. Wernsman, FNP-C
Centralia, IL – Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois (CCSI) is pleased to announce the addition of Alexis J. Wernsman, Nurse Practitioner, to its practice in December 2024. She primarily sees patients at Centralia Oncology Clinic and also provides coverage as needed for CCSI satellite clinics. Wernsman has prior nurse practitioner experience in gastrointestinal health and also has prior nursing experience in intensive care and post-operative care. She joins CCSI physicians in providing care to hematology/oncology patients in Centralia and surrounding areas.
Wernsman, from Centralia, IL, obtained her Associate Degree in Nursing from Kaskaskia College in Centralia, IL in 2014. She then obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2016. She went on to earn a Master of Science in Nursing from Maryville University in St. Louis, MO. in 2019.
As a Nurse Practitioner, Wernsman collaborates with the medical oncologist and conducts comprehensive patient assessments, assists with patient care plans, provides health exams, orders diagnostic tests (such as x-rays, CT/PET scans, and laboratory tests), and coordinates with other members of the patient’s health care team.
Wernsman is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She is also a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
