Cancer Care Specialists Seeing Patients in St. Joseph-Breese Specialty Clinics

To provide comprehensive cancer-related consultation and treatment services closer to home, Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois, S.C., is now seeing patients on Wednesdays in the St. Joseph Hospital -Breese Specialty Clinics.
The new cancer care program at Breese, which began June 18, offers a full spectrum of clinical and support services from screenings and diagnostic services to treatment and counseling including:
-Consultation and exam to confirm diagnosis;
-Review of patient history and medical records;
-Evaluation of patients at high risk for cancer and genetic testing;
-Discussion of treatment goals and options;
-Administration of chemotherapy treatments;
-Hormone therapy;
-Immunotherapy;
-Targeted therapy;
-Pain management; and
-Opportunities for participation in National Cancer Institute research trials through partnerships with cancer research organizations.
Patients will also have access to services available at St. Joseph’s in Breese including:
-Diagnosis and staging (CT, PET-CT, MRI, surgical biopsy, medical imaging, lab services);
-Medical and surgical referrals;
-Physical therapy, rehabilitation and massage therapy;
-Lymphedema treatment (bandaging referred);
-Inpatient hospice;
-Affiliations for home care;
-Cancer Care Closet with free wigs, hats, scarves, etc.;
-American Cancer Society’s Look Good-Feel Better sessions with specially-trained cosmetologists; and
-HealthPlex sessions specifically for cancer patients (inaugural session July 12).
Seeing patients at St. Joseph’s in Breese is Jane Grace M. Manalo, MD, a specialist in cancer and blood diseases who is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Hematology and Medical Oncology.
Dr. Manalo received her Doctor of Medicine and Surgery degree at University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines, completing post-degree work in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology and Hematology at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, and Montefiore Medical Center at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY, among other locations.
Before joining CCSCI in 2010, Dr. Manalo practiced medical oncology and hematology in Utah for nine years.
She was an attending physician in medical oncology and hematology at Snow Canyon Clinic in Ivins, Utah, and at Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, Utah, where she was awarded Oncologist of the Year honors, received the 2006 Outstanding Service and Quality award and served as chairman of the Cancer Committee 2006-2007.
Also affiliated with CCSCI and seeing patients at St. Joseph’s in Breese will be nurse practitioner Kristi M. Toennies, RN, MSN, FNP.
An Aviston native, Toennies received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Barnes College of Nursing at the University of Missouri-Saint Louis and her master’s and Family Nurse Practitioner degrees from Saint Louis University School of Nursing.
She is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center and as an Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse.
