Nurse Practitioner – Urologic Oncology
Nicole Soper, Nurse Practitioner, joined Cancer Care Specialists in November 2017. She primarily sees patients within CCSI’s Urologic Oncology department in the Cancer Care Center of Decatur and provides services in coordination with Dr. Thomas Tarter and also assists with surgical services.
Soper obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Illinois State University in Normal in 2002. She went on to earn an MBA from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona in 2013 and completed her Master of Science in Nursing from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois in 2016.
Soper is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. As a Nurse Practitioner in CCSI’s Urologic Oncology department, Soper provides more services than a Registered Nurse, but not as much as a Doctor. She assesses patient needs, provide health exams, orders diagnostic tests (such as x-rays, CT/PET scans, and laboratory tests), oversees specific urologic procedures, and confers with Dr. Tarter and other CCSI doctors regarding patient care.
Soper has experience as a critical care nurse, pharmacy nurse consultant and quality compliance director. She has clinical training with adults, geriatrics and OB/GYN and also has experience in hospice and palliative care services.
