Irene A. Dy, MD

Dr. Irene A. Dy, medical oncologist, joined Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois on August 1, 2012. She primarily sees patients at our Crossroads Cancer Center in Effingham, and also sees patients at the Fairfield Memorial Hospital-Medical Arts Complex.
Dr. Irene Dy received her M.D. degree from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines, in 2003. She completed postgraduate internship training at Cardinal Santos Medical Center in the Philippines in 2004. She went on to complete an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Harlem Hospital in New York, New York, in 2009. Dr. Irene Dy completed a fellowship in Oncology/Hematology at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York, New York, in 2012. She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is Board Eligible in Medical Oncology.
Dr. Irene Dy has received multiple academic and professional honors, including being named Best Junior Resident of the Year at Harlem Hospital Center/Columbia University and Santo Tomas Scholar. She has actively participated in clinical research and submitted abstracts to the American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Society of Hematology. Dr. Irene Dy has co-published many oncology/hematology related articles, including: Treatment Outcome of Acute Myeloid Leukemia in HIV+ Patients; Levamisole – Adulterated in Cocaine Causing Agranulocytosis, Vasculopathy and Acquired Protein S Deficiency; and Leptomeningeal Carcinomatosis from Ovarian Cancer.
